Daughter
Poem.
Your heart breaks for her pain and suffering,
Even though you can’t take away her tears.
You know that all too soon, she’ll need mending,
A life of future joy, love, and cheers.
For now, she’ll struggle with wounds so deep,
That can never be fully bandaged or sewn.
Your heart bleeds for what she must go through,
And hope that one day, her brokenness bids adieu.
She wears a mask of strength and courage,
One that hides the hurt within her heart.
But as you gaze into her sorrowful eyes,
You wished they’d never been apart.
She had thought he was the one for her,
That he would stay by her side for eternity,
But his dreams led him in another direction,
Leaving her behind feeling empty.
But as hard as you pray, as much strength as you lend,
This storm won’t cease until its course is done;
A daughter’s heart needs healing time and again;
And so until then, keep loving her without end.
