Lost and drowning in the sea of love
I found myself lost in your shadow
Living a life that wasn’t mine
I was scared, and I just tended to follow

But as time went on, I slowly realized
That I was more than just your significant other
I had dreams and aspirations to pursue
And a future that wasn’t tied to anyone

I leaped and made some tough decisions
To live a life that was mine and mine alone
To chase my passions and fulfill my ambitions
And never again let my heart be overthrown

The road was tough, and the journey was long
As I stumbled through my uncharted paths
But I learned so much about who I was
And discovered strengths I never thought I had

Now I stand proud and confident
A warrior who’s found her own way
I live life on my own terms
And not in anyone else’s shadow

Don’t be afraid to take that first step
And break free from anyone’s hold
Find yourself and live your own truth
And watch your life beautifully unfold
