It’s normal to feel a range of emotions when our adult kids leave home. I understand your disappointment, especially when your son has taken a year out of uni. But he is an adult now and can make decisions for himself. He is establishing his autonomy and independence.

As parents, we only want the best for our children. Maintain a good relationship with him and his girlfriend; he’d appreciate that. It’s good to know that no matter what, you are there to support him.
