The Song we Sang
A poem
The living room’s empty, and no one’s around but me.
The stereo’s playing a melody, your favorite song is on.
It’s the song we used to sing along.
The song reminds me of you, you loved this song as much as I do.
We sang this together, and you preferred to do soprano.
While I loved doing the alto.
I now close my eyes to see you, your smiling and friendly face.
Your warm and loving touch, reminiscing moments of happiness.
In times of hollow emptiness.
I now cover my ears to hear you, your beautiful voice echoes.
In every corner of the room, together we reach the chorus.
Deep breathing for high notes.
While the instruments are playing, you reach to hold father’s hands.
Leading him up to stand, the two of you, like a newlywed,
Dancing at your first dance.
Oh how I miss you both, years have come and gone.
My time will also come when my children bid farewell.
And reminisce the memories made.
Looking at the empty room, flooded with memories we shared.
I’ll keep you both in my heart, singing with me, passing the time.
Until there’s no more rhyme.
